Chikkamagaluru: Deputy Chief Minister Lakshman Savadi has announced the launch of the oxygen bus service in the district here.
The service is being launched by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in collaboration with a few local self-help groups.
“Currently, almost all hospitals are full of COVID-19 patients which are causing severe delays in the delivery of oxygen to new patients. Moreover, it is becoming increasingly difficult for patients to sit and wait in the hospitals. To avoid this, a new system is being created where the patients can receive oxygen in buses free of charge,” Savadi said.
“These redesigned KSRTC buses will operate as “Oxygen On Wheels” with the capacity to handle 8 patients at a time. They will be parked at the Chikkamagaluru district hospital premises,” the DyCM added.
“The Corporations is planning to expand this special oxygen bus service to more districts,” Savadi said.
