DySP rank police officer hailing from Uttara Kannada dies of heart attack in Vijayapura

Kundapura: A DySP rank police officer hailing from Ankola inUttara Kannada district passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest while playing badminton at an indoor stadium in Vijayapura.

The deceased has been identified as Arun B Naik (56) who was serving as the Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) in Vijayapura.

The incident occurred on July 19, Wednesday evening when Arun Naik collapsed during a badminton match. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital for immediate medical attention. However, he eventually died late at night without responding to treatment.

During his career in the police force, Naik had previously served at various locations in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, including as a sub-inspector in Brahmavara and later as a circle inspector in Byndoor.
