Eager to return home, Karkala priest ends life in Mumbai following lockdown extension

Udupi/Mumbai: A 35-year-old priest hailing from Karkala taluk allegedly ended his life on Tuesday, April 14 after the announcement on further extension of the lockdown in the nation.
The deceased identified as Krishna Shanthi, a native of Neere Bailoor had left for Mumbai in order to serve as a priest on a temporary basis in Mahakali Temple in Kandivali.
He was found hanging from the ceiling in the temple premises.
It is gathered that he was eager to return to his hometown after the lockdown ended on April 14. He was disappointed after the Centre announced the extension of lockdown till May 3, it is said.
The case is being investigated by the local Mumbai police.
