Sullia: Tremors were felt for the fourth time in a week in the Sullia-Sampaje border areas in Dakshina Kannada.
Locals claimed that they were woken up from their sleep in the wee hours of Friday by a loud noise accompanied by an earthquake. The quakes were felt in Sampaje, Guttigaru, Ubaradka, Goonadka, Sullia town, Elimale, and surrounding areas at around 1:15 AM on July 1.
The series of earthquakes felt in the region have left the public in a state of panic.
On June 25, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.3 on the Richter scale was recorded. On June 28, quakes were observed twice, one in the morning with Richter scale 3 intensity and the other in the evening measuring Richter scale 1.8.
Inputs from the state natural disaster monitoring center is awaited.
