An eatery in Jeddah city had to face closure for violating health and safety norms while preparing meals. The eatery, located in a residential building was reportedly preparing samosas, snacks and other food items in the toilets for over 3 decades.
Based on a tip-off, Jeddah Municipality officials conducted a raid at the restaurant and found that the restaurant was using expired food items. A Gulf news report, citing officials, said that the employees at the eatery did not even possess health cards and were clearly violating the residency law. Insects and rodents were also spotted at the site.
The restaurant has been shut down after these findings.
Earlier in January a popular Shawarma restaurant was sealed by authorities after a video of a rat wandering around and feasting on meat on top of a skewer had gone viral on social media.
