Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday, January 29 attached properties worth Rs 5.2 crore belonging to nine contractors of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
ED initiated an investigation under the provisions of PMLA on the basis of FIR and Charge sheet filed by CID Police Bengaluru against contractors and engineers of BBMP for causing loss to BBMP by indulging in illegal activities in civil work at Malleshwaram, Gandhi Nagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar Divisions of BBMP.
Instances of money laundering were made out against contractors Nagaraj, Shashikumar, G Kumara Swamy, Nagesh, Subramani, Shivaswamy, Anil, Babu Rao and Bharat. Properties attached include land, buildings worth Rs 3.36 crore in Mysuru and Bengaluru and bank deposits worth Rs 1.83 crore, informed sources.
