Edu Min felicitates Akshara Santa Harekala Hajabba for winning Padmashri

Mangaluru: Minister of Primary and Secondary Education school Suresh Kumar on Saturday, February 15 met Padma Shree awardee Harekala Hajabba and felicitated him.

Addressing presspersons after felicitating Hajabbal at his school in Newpadpu Suresh said, “A chai wala (referring to Prime minister Narendra Modi) has recognized the achievement of an orange vendor and bestowed him with Padma Shree.”

“After taking charge as Education Minister of the state I have met many people but never felt so happy and blessed. He truly is an inspiration to many people. This day will be one for the best day of my life,” he expressed.

He further added, “Many have received Padma Shree award but this is the first time an orange vendor is receiving the prestigious award. He truly is a hero.”

On the occasion, Hajabba requested the minister to sanction some funds to the school so that they can repair the school wall which is on bad condition.
