Eight people were injured after a private bus they were travelling in toppled on the road near Gurupur Polali Dwara on Tuesday, January 2 evening.
The bus was moving towards BC Road from Polali Dwara when the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to topple. As the bus had fallen on its left side, thus blocking access to the door, the passengers, mostly workers came out of the vehicle through the windows and breaking open the front and rear panes of the bus.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital via an ambulance.
The mishap affected traffic movement on the road for over an hour. A crane was deployed to shift the bus and restore vehicular movement.
Notably, there is a big ditch on the left side of the road where the accident occurred and a major tragedy could have occurred if the bus had toppled on that side.
