Eight killed in head-on collision between Tata Sumo, goods tempo

Mandya: Eight persons, including two women, were killed in a head-on collision between a Tata Sumo vehicle and a goods tempo at Nagamandala near Doddajataka Gate here on Friday, November 22.

Al Falah Minorities Credit Co-operative Society president Akbar Naseem Pasha (40), and directors – Bakar Sharieff (50), Tahir Sultan Sharieff (30), Naushad Maqbul Pasha (45), Haseen Taj Khaleem (50), Mahboob Dastar Khan (50), Maqsood Mohammed (25) and Shaheda Khanum (40) are the deceased persons.

The victims had attended a board meeting of the society and were headed towards Belluru Cross when the accident took place.

As per reports Akbar was driving the Sumo vehicle and collided into the tempo coming from the opposite direction while trying to overtake an autorickshaw.

While four persons died on the spot, the others succumbed to their injuries at a hospital where they were admitted.

Belluru Police registered a case in this regard.
