Alirajpur (MP): Eight labourers, including a woman, were killed and as many others injured when a sand- laden truck overturned in the district in the early hours today, a police official said.

Sixteen labourers were sitting in the truck when it turned turtle after one of its wheels got stuck in a ditch near Allu village, Additional Superintendent of Police Seema Alawa told PTI.

Most of the victims, who used to load sand into trucks, died after getting trapped under the vehicle, she said. Soon after getting information, the police rushed to the spot, the ASP said.

The truck driver fled after the accident, she said. The injured persons were admitted in the district hospital, she said, adding that a probe was on into the incident.
