Mangaluru: An elderly couple committed suicide by hanging themselves at their residence in Kotekar Beeri on Tuesday, February 19 morning.
The deceased have been identified as Devaraj Ganiga (74), a retired employee of Akashavani and his wife Vasanthi (64).
A death note left behind by the couple mentions that Shwetha, daughter of Vasanthi’s elder brother would be entitled to their property and requests her to care for the couple’s pets – a dog and a cat.
It is gathered that the couple were suffering from chronic illness and this may have led them to take the extreme step.
A case has been registered at Ullal police.
