Elderly woman collapses waiting for govt official for availing pension benefits

Hosanagara: An elderly woman, tired of waiting for an officer to avail of social security pension benefits, collapsed in the government office. The incident took place in Nittur gram panchayat limits of the taluk, triggering a public outcry.
Around 9.30 am, Sadhamma, an elderly woman, came to the Nittur village accountant’s office to get the pension facility done. She had walked to the office from her village in Hebbige.
However, Manjappa, the village accountant, did not turn up till noon. Tired and fatigued Sadhamma collapsed in the office. The locals who were at the office rushed the elderly woman to the Nittur government hospital for treatment.
Angry over the behavior of the village accountant, people staged a protest on the spot and brought it to the notice of Tahsildar V S Rajeev. The Tahsildar took action by transferring village accountant Manjappa to another place immediately.
