- Wild elephant trouble
Subrahmanya: There is an increase in the emergence of wild animals into cultivated land and the farmers have lost severely to the repeated damage inflicted by wild elephants. In order to prevent this an Elephant Park is being created in an areas of 3,000 hectares at Sakleshpur in Hassan district, said the union minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation on Sunday Dec 23rd.
He was speaking after the inauguration of the newly created circle at Balugodu in memory of Koojugodu Venkataramana Gowda who was the first MLA from the Puttur-Sullia constituency. The circle has the bust of the MLA at its center.
Many plans are in progress to handle the repeated problem caused by the wild animals in Western Ghats. Even then, the trouble inflicted by wild elephants is on the rise and therefore an elephant park will be created at Sakleshpur, informed the minister.
The farmers in the state do not need to get worried on the implementation of the Kasturirangan Report. The talk that arecanut has harmful properties is not true. On contrary it has the properties to improve life force. The central government has submitted a report to the Supreme Court on why arecanut is not harmful. The union government will also be taking proper action for the increased the prices of rubber and arecanut, he said.
