Eleven students fall sick after drinking poison-laced water

Mandya: As many as eleven students and two assistant cooks of the Government High School at Hulikere in Mandya taluk took ill on Monday, June 15 after drinking water laced with pesticide.

Speaking on the issue Senior health and police officials of Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), said that all are out of danger and are responding well to treatment.

It is gathered that some miscreants had allegedly put poison into the water tank of the school on Sunday night. Not aware of this, the schoolchildren drank it on Monday morning and complained of uneasiness. The school authorities immediately shifted them to a hospital.

Expressing concern over the issue Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh directed the district administration to take necessary action.
