American television host Ellen DeGeneres has issued an apology after former employees of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ claimed they faced racism on the sets.

The apology comes after several employees complained of toxic work culture. In one case, an employee claimed they were fired after taking bereavement days to attend a family funeral, while another employee was allegedly terminated after spending a month in a mental health facility following a suicide attempt.

Ellen’s note to crew is part of an effort to change the culture behind the scenes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Warner Bros. Television, which produces The Ellen DeGeneres Show, reviewed complaints that ranged from bullying to racism among production staff.

It is said that  several staffing changes and other measures are being implemented
