Endeavour to promote peace and brotherhood

Udupi: The “Students Islamic Organisation of India” Karnataka zone has launched its yearlong campaign “Many religions, One India”.  Marathon, Mohella meetings, corner meeting, cycle jatha, door to door visits, campus lectures, seminars, posture presentations and several other activities and programmes are taken to promote harmony in society.

Campus Secretary of SIO Karnataka, Zeeshan Aqil, speaking at a press meet on November 29 said India is a vast country which promotes the pluralist society that creates magic with democracy, rule of law and individual freedom, community relations and cultural diversity. One faith of brotherhood and unity in diversity has been one of the great characteristics of our nation which has bind people of all religions together in one bond of humanity; it is high time that we pledge to safeguard the idea of India. This requires us to unite as a nation in spite of our diversity. A sense of belonging comes from the experiences of justice, brotherhood and equality of opportunities. As our beloved nation marches ahead, let us realize that we are hu  man beings first.

Afwan, campaign convener elucidated the need for such campaign to preserve diversity in our nation. Further said SIO is striving to build communal harmony across the nation and addressing the issue of communal polarization in campuses across the state. Many religions one India campaign has successfully carried out in seven districts of Karnataka.

The major event of this campaign will be an inter-religious conference which will be held on 16th December at town hall Ajjarkad. SIO National president Nahas Mala and other dignitaries will take part in this event.

Zeeshan Aqil campus secretary, Shuaib Malpe,  SIO Udupi dist president, Mohammed Sharukh, Afwan and M Bilal were present in the press meet.
