“Enhancing healthcare accessibility” Manipal Arogya card 2023 launched

Dr. H.S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of MAHE, on Wednesday, June 21 launched Manipal Arogya Card 2023.

Addressing the media after the launch, Dr H S Ballal said, “We are celebrating the 125th year birthday of our visionary founder Dr T M A Pai. This is our duty and responsibility to remember his noble work. The Indian healthcare system was altered by the inspirational community leader Dr T M A Pai. Such dedication, commitment, and service to society are extremely uncommon to see. It gives me immense pleasure to announce that Manipal Arogya Card 2023 enrolment is starting today. The card was incepted with an aim to make quality healthcare treatment affordable to the public and the cardholder can avail benefits of medical and dental services.”

While speaking on the journey of Manipal Arogya Card, Dr Sharath K Rao, pro vice chancellor, MAHE, Manipal said, “Manipal Health Card was started in the year 2000 as part of its social responsibility under the guidance and leadership of Dr Ramadas Pai, chancellor of MAHE Manipal, with the objective that health care should be available to everyone at affordable rates even though it is not possible to provide free of cost. Initially, this cheme started for the people of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district and now this scheme extends to more than 12-15 districts of coastal Karnataka and central Karnataka including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, Chikkamagaluru and Ballari etc, and also to neighbouring states like Kerala, Goa etc. In the year 2019, Manipal Arogya Card moved to digital mode from paper mode and in the coming years, moving completely card-less and customer friendly. Over the past 22 years, we are providing high quality health care services to millions of peoples at a discounted rate with social care and we enrolled 6,40,000 members in the year 2022. Increasing enrolment of members year by year shows the popularity of the Manipal Arogya card.”

Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent Kasturba Hospital, Manipal said, “Manipal Arogya Card holders can avail the benefit in Kasturba Hospital – Manipal, Dr TMA Pai Hospital – Udupi, Dr TMA Pai Rotary Hospital – Karkala, KMC Hospital – Mangaluru and Attavar, Durga Sanjivani Manipal Hospital – Kateel and Manipal Hospital – Goa.”

Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean – KMC Manipal, Dr B Unnikrishnan, dean – KMC Mangaluru were present.

About Manipal Arogya Card

The Manipal Arogya Card holder can avail discount of 50% on consultation fee for both specialist and super specialist doctor, 30% discount on diagnostics and laboratory investigations, 20% discount on radiology investigation, OPD procedures and diabetic foot care, Rs 100 discount on dialysis, up to 12% discount on the medicines purchased from hospital pharmacy and 25% concession on in-patient bill excluding consumables and packages in general ward.

Manipal Arogya Card 2023 will include one year and two-year scheme. For 1 year scheme, individual membership for 1 person, at Rs 300, family membership includes his/her spouse and any number of unmarried children below 25 years at Rs 600 and family plus membership includes individual spouse, any number of unmarried children below 25 years and up to 4 parents including in-laws at Rs 750 which is the additional benefit. For 2 year scheme, individual scheme at Rs 500, family at Rs 800 and family plus at Rs 950.

The public can enrol the Manipal Health Card at all the authorized representatives.
