Mangaluru: Every single voter must cast their vote during the Lok Sabha election to be held on April 18th and also encourage others to cast their votes too, requested DK Zilla Panchayat CEO and SVEEP Committee president Dr R Selvamani.

Mr Selvamani was speaking after distributing prizes to the winners of the election quiz competition which was jointly organised by Udayavani and Dakshina Kannada SVEEP Committee, with the aim to spread awareness regarding voting amongst the public,  at ZP hall at Urwa Store on Thursday.

“I had thought to hold a meaningful programme for eligible voters to participate and to spread awareness. Udayavani provided complete cooperation and spread awareness amongst the voters. The reaction from the readers and the enthusiastic participation of the people has brought happiness. In this backdrop, let this programme become an inspiration for the highest amount of voting in the entire country. Through this, may the voters of our district create a record,” wished ZP CEO.

Manipal Media Network Limited (MMNL) CEO Vinod Kumar spoke on the occasion and said, “The process of election is the active participation of the people in democracy. All eligible voters have the right to cast their vote and they must cast their votes. The attitude of what can happen from my one vote is not correct; a single vote can be reason enough to decide the future of the country. Therefore everyone must cast their vote. Not only should the youth and new voters cast their votes, but also encourage others to cast their votes and through this, see to it that the highest amount of voting in the country takes place in Dakshina Kannada district, “he said.

“There has been a good response from the readers to the quiz competition. The winners of the competition have come from the various corners of the district which is appreciable. In this regard, I congratulate the district SVEEP committee, the participants and also the winners of the competition,” he added.

SVEEP committee secretary, Mangaluru TP CEO Raghu said, “The participation of the people in greater numbers is the sign of the people’s interest. In order to spread awareness on voting, a human chain will be created from Talapady to Sasihitlu, along the coast for a distance of 45 kms, from 4 pm to 6 pm in the evening on April 7th. All must participate in this programme,” he requested.

Thousands of people participated in the quiz competition organised by Udayavani for its readers with the aim “Bhumana Gelliri, Matadana Madiri” from Mar 15 to Mar 29th. Altogether 75 winners were selected at the rate of 5 per day. The prized distributed to the victors include a T-shirt which spreads awareness on voting, memento and certificate.

On behalf of the victors, Chetan Sullia, Kusuma Vittal and Shruti Shanker Krishnapura expressed their opinions and appreciated the organizing of a unique programme.

Udayavani marketing division head Rama Chandra Mijar, Mangaluru news bureau chief Manohar Prasad, deputy news bureau chief Suresh Puduvettu and Magazine and Special Initiative National Head Anand K were present.

Participants pledge to vote

All those who participated in the programme including the winners, chief guests and other took a pledge to cast their votes at the election taking place on April 18th.

Questions helpful for life
