EVMs, VVPATs first round of randomisation done

Mangaluru: In the backdrop of the upcoming April 18 Lok Sabha elections in Dakshina Kannada distict, the first round of randomisation of EVMs and VVPATs was done in the strong room at the office of Deputy Commissioner here on Thursday.

The process was conducted in the presence of Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S, representatives of political parties, assistant returning officers, tahsildars, and other officials.

Vehicles carrying EVMs and VVPATs have been fitted with GPS equipment to track their movement, stated an official press release said here on Thursday.

Permission before advertising

Mr Senthil spoke at a meeting of local cable television channel operators and informed the operators to permission of the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for telecasting advertisements of political parties and candidates.

All channel operators should telecast election-related advertisements at the rate fixed by the district administration, added the DC.

The Media Certification and Monitoring Committee office has been set up at the DC office and will maintain a 24×7 vigil on all media related broadcasts.
