Hassan: The Kalasa police, on Tuesday, arrested a 45-year-old man for illegal storage of explosives at his residence.

The arrested, Abdul Aziz is a merchant by profession and has been residing in Kalasa for the last 39 years.

Based on credible information, the police raided Abdul’s residence at Gorimakki and found 14 gelatin sticks and 14 detonators along with fuse and wires on the terrace.

While the police have ruled out any extremist activity, they suspect that the explosives were meant for use in quarries.

“We have now registered an FIR and will arrest the accused. He will be produced to the court within the stipulated time and further investigation is being done to find any accomplices of the accused,” Superintendent of Police Harish Pande said.
