Kota: Heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday have caused widespread damage in various parts of the Kota Hobli.

A large tree fell on the house of Ratna – Rajeev Marakala in Kavadi’s Sankadi, causing severe damage. Fortunately, the three residents narrowly escaped with their lives. The homeowner, Rajeev Marakala, and his daughter sustained injuries and were treated at a private hospital. Kundapur Assistant Commissioner inspected the site.

In Saligrama’s Betlakki, the house wall of Lachchu Ganiga collapsed, causing extensive damage. Yadtadi’s Shankar Marakala’s house wall also collapsed, resulting in significant financial loss.

Over 100 houses in Betlakki, Holekere, and Chitrapadi areas of Saligrama Panchayat were inundated due to the rains.

The district main road connecting Kota to Golyangadi was closed to traffic from 9 AM to evening. Buses were diverted via Kavadi Road. Waterlogging also severed road connections on the Kota-Giliyar Road and Manuru Kokooru-Beluru Road.

In Karkada, water entered eight houses, prompting the evacuation of residents to safe locations. Several areas in the Vaddarse Panchayat, including Kudrumane, Upladi Tenkabettu, Bannadi, Achladi Balmane, and the riverbank areas of Kavadi village, were completely submerged. Residents were relocated to safer places.

Houses in Giliyar village were also flooded, and several areas in the Shiriyara Panchayat were inundated.

Deputy Commissioner Vidyakumari, Assistant Commissioner Rashmi, Zilla Panchayat CEO Prateek Bayal, and MP Kota Srinivas Poojary jointly visited the flood-affected areas.
