Extreme heavy rain to continue over coastal Karnataka: IMD

Mangaluru: Intense spell of rainfall likely to continue over south Peninsular India and Konkan and Goa till July 6, IMD said in a bulletin on Wednesday afternoon.

The met department predicts that isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka on July 5.

Between 0830 hours on Tuesday and 0830 hours on Wednesday, heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places over Coastal Karnataka, it said.

In Coastal Karnataka, significant rainfall was recorded at Karwar (18 cm) and Honavar (18 cm),  Shirali   (18 cm), followed by Mulki (17cm), Belthangadi (16cm), Udupi (15 cm), Karkala (15 cm). In the south interior parts of Karnataka, Kottigehara (Chikkamagaluru) received 9 cm, Bhagamandala (Kodagu) 8 cm, and Kammardi (Chikkamagaluru) 7 cm of rainfall.
