Entire country is in a lockdown till May 3 due to Covid-19, forcing people to stay inside their homes. In this crisis situation, miscreants are spreading fake news and misleading the people.

One such fake news is that the Department of Telecom has announced free internet to everyone till May 3, to enable them to work from home.

However, Fact Check Unit of Press Information Bureau clarified that there is no such provision of free internet by DoT and that the link is fraudulent. Mobile phone users are advised to not click on such links or forward such messages.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in an official statement, “The fake information in circulation has claimed that free internet is being provided to all by the Department to enable them to work from home, and can be availed by clicking on a given link,”
