Mangaluru: A press meet left BJP member Harikrishna Bantwal re-faced when reporters opened a deluge of questions on him regarding the achievements of BJP Lok Sabha candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel as MP of Dakshina Kannada for two full terms.

Caught off-guard at a press meet at the BJP office here, Harikrishna was visibly embarrassed when confronted by a question from a reporter to name at least one achievement of MP Nalin Kumar.

First taken aback and then searching for words Harikrishna said, “We have an airport” to which the reporter shot back that the airport always existed to which Harikrishna replied that he did not finish his sentence and asked the reporter to stop.

“See, we have an airport here, we have a port. What is it that we need here now?” said Harikrishna giving an in-direct answer.

Soon, another reporter joined the questioning and enquired on what happened to the funds Nalin brought for the constituency to which, unable to state any achievements, Harikrishna resorted to play the Modi card.

“Which party does Nalin Kumar belong to? Which party does Modi belong to? BJP isn’t it?” Harikrishna questioned to which the reporter pointed out that party affiliation is relevant to the MP’s achievement.

Shaking his head Harikrishna said, “The son has right to a piece of land belonging to his father. The son gets the fruits of his father’s labour. In the same way, Narendra Modi formulates programmes, and if those programmes have to be brought to our district, the candidate from here has to go and tell him about it. How else will Modi know about our needs?” he asked.

To this the reporter asked if Narendra Modi has asked Nalin to not to complete the Pumpwell flyover.

Formerly in the Congress, Harikrishna Bantwal was expelled for anti-party activities in 2015 post which he became a member of BJP.
