M’luru/Raichur: Firefighter dies in road accident; Shocked wife kills infant son, self

Mangaluru / Raichur: In a tragic incident, a firefighter died in a road accident in Mangaluru on April 16. Depressed after hearing the news, his wife took her own life after killing their 6-month-old son.
Gangadhar B Kammara (36), a driver attached with the fire services in Mangaluru, died on the spot after an SUV rammed into him while crossing the National Highway-66 near Kuntikana in Mangaluru at around 8.50 pm on Saturday.
The XUV 500 was on its way from Bengaluru to Kundapura when the accident took place. A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Traffic Police station in this regard.
Shruthi (30), the wife of the deceased was at her brother’s residence in Raichur when the shocking news of her husband’s death reached her. Heartbroken, Shruthi killed her infant son Abhiram (6 months) before taking her own life at around 10 pm on Saturday.
The suicide took place in the Lingasuguru police station limits in the Raichur district.
