Fancy, faulty number plate will attract Rs 500 fine in K’taka

Bengaluru: The state transport department has launched a drive against vehicle owners who use faulty, fancy and illegal number plates.
Addressing presspersons with this regard N Shivkumar, Commissioner for Transport and Road Safety, said that as per Emblems and Names (Prevention of improper Use) Act 1950, Transport department will take strict against those using government symbols and emblems without proper authorization.
“The numberplates should have a standard colour of fonts, plate, content, font size and clarity. Those found using improper number plates will be fined Rs 500 and the faulty numbers will be removed by the officials.” he added.
“Transport Department officials and Karnataka Police will jointly carry out the enforcement,” he informed.
