Farmer trampled to death by wild elephant

Chikkamagaluru: A farmer was trampled to death by a wild elephant on late Tuesday, January 22 night at Aravind Nagar near Shantaveri in Chikkamagaluru taluk.
The deceased is identified as Kumar Naik (45) resident of Aravind Nagar.
The incident took place when Kumar was asleep in his field. As per sources the elephant might have pulled him and stomped him to death.
The villagers have furiously protested against the Forest Department, alleging the despite several such incidents the department has not taken any proper action against such jumbo attacks.
The Chikkamagaluru Forest officer has visited the spot and launched the investigation.
