Farmers in Karnataka Get Rs 1 as Compensation for Crop Damage worth in Lakhs

Dharwad/Bagalkot: Dharwad revenue department distributed Rs 1 to three farmers as compensation for crop damage worth in lakhs and the move of the department has created heated debate in the state. Harobelavadi village residents in Dharwad district Sangana Gowda, Manappa and Rudrappa received confirmation that Rs 1 deposited in their respective bank accounts as compensation for crop damage. Meanwhile, revenue department officials justifying themselves said, the amount was deposited to confirm the bank accounts of the beneficiaries to distribute the actual amount later.
However, amounts including Rs 20, Rs 30, Rs 50, Rs 100 and others deposited in the bank accounts of many farmers in Dharwad and Bagalkot regions. The farmers who received the money said, no such amounts could be deposited by the government to confirm a bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
