New Delhi/Bengaluru: Once more, the gender ratio of the nation, particularly in 17 states has radically diminished as a result of female foeticide. Gujarat is at the first in the list and Karnataka is at eighth position in the list of states with most gender imbalance. These states witness diminish in the number of girls.

“The Healthy States, Developing India” report released by the National Institute for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog reveals that the gender ration which was 1000:907 in 2012-14 decreased to 1000:854 in 2013-15, and this is a fact to be concerned.

The acceptable fact in the report is the improved sex ratio in a few states including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Moreover, the report communicated concern that that the variation in gender imbalance implies growing female foeticide in the nation.

To end this, the Aayog has suggested strict execution of Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (prohibition and sex selection) Act, 1994 and expanding the mindfulness about the significance of girl child and so forth.
