Fight within community after voting; youth found murdered

Karwar: Two groups of a same community fought with each other a at Sirsi town post the polling for Lok Sabha election ended on Tuesday night April 23. However on Wednesday, the corpse of a youth was found at the location where the fight had occurred.

The deceased is identified as Assalam Babajan (22) and his mortal remains was found lying in an open area at Kasturba Nagar in Sirsi.

Knife attack

During the fight which broke between two factions of a community on Tuesday, the vice president of BJP minority Morcha Aneef Tahsildar was stabbed with a knife. However the police rushed to the location and controlled the situation. Aneef was sent to Mangaluru for further treatment to his injuries.

Murder

Assalam was found murdered on Wednesday morning at the same spot where the fight had occurred. The victim was hit in the head with a rod and then stabbed suspect the police. An iron rod has been found at the location. Sirsi Market Police station has registered a case in connection to the murder.
