‘Final journey on Jan 29’: HDK, actors Prakash Raj and Chetan receive death threat

Bengaluru: As many as 15 eminent personalities, including former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy’s name has been mentioned in a threat letter received by Nidumamidi Mutt Swami Nijagunananda.
The handwritten letter which arrived via post on Friday contains names of former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, former Bajarang Dal leader Mahendra Kumar; Nijagunanada Asuri Swami; Nidumamidi Mutt’s Channamalla Swami; actors Prakash Raj and Chetan; Gnanaprakash Swami; BT Lalita Nayak, a former MLA, MLC; rationalists Mahesh Chandra Guru and KS Bhagwan; journalist Dinesh Amin Mattu, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s advisor; writer Chandrashekar Patil; gangster-turned-writer Agni Sridhar; CPI leader Brinda Karat.
In the letter, Swamiji has been asked to be ready for his final journey (implying his death) on January 29 for having betrayed his religion. “Following you, the other people (mentioned in the letter) too will be killed. You must prepare them for that,” the letter states.
The letter was posted from Davangere and was received at the Belur ashram on Friday afternoon, said a police source. An investigation in this regard is ongoing.
