Bengaluru: An FIR has been registered at the Puttenahalli police station against Dakshina Kannada Congress leader Divya Prabha and five members of her family for allegedly abducting her son-in-law.
A case was registered against Divya Prabha, her daughter Spandana, Parashuram, Prashritha, and Mahadev Gowda on the basis of a complaint filed by Naveen M Gowda (32), a resident of Bellare in Dakshina Kannada’s Sullia.
The complainant alleged that he married Spandana in February 2019. The relations between the couple soured from October 2022. Following the marital discord, both families held several negotiations to mend their relationship. Naveeen alleged that Spandana had an extra-marital relationship and that he separated from her after finding obscene chats on her mobile phone.
In this background, the accused barged into his house on December 19, 2022, tied him up, and forcefully took him to a hospital in J P nagar in Bengaluru in an ambulance.
Naveen alleged that the accused made a secret pact with the doctors at the hospital to portray him as mentally ill and kept him under illegal detention. He was also assaulted when he did not consent to the medical treatment, he said.
Naveen also alleged that he was forced to sign some papers, and created fake documents, and forged his signatures on some of the ones he refused to sign. He said he was discharged from the hospital on December 22, 2022, following a Habeas Corpus petition in Karnataka High Court.
The complaint sought strict action against the accused.
