Mangaluru: A FIR has been registered against a police constable for the alleged rape of a woman after promising to marry her.
The accused, Sayabanna, a resident of Vijayapura is attached to the district armed reserve police contingent here.
The complainant, hailing from Bengaluru has claimed that she became acquainted with the accused over Facebook. On May 20, the duo met in Bengaluru to discuss marriage and Sayabanna allegedly established physical relationship with her the same day. Later on June 12 he had asked her to visit him in Mangaluru, where she was raped again in the official quarters.
As she insisted on marriage, the constable and another person, named Ramesh Gowda threatened her with serious consequences, she said in her complaint.
The women’s police station staff are investigating the case.
