Fire arms racket: Sandalwood actor and three others arrested

Bengaluru: Sandalwood actor Jagadish S Hosamath, along with three others was arrested by the Central Crime Branch police on charges of illegal arms trade. The police also recovered two 7.65mm country-made firearms and 10 rounds of bullets. 

The other three accused have been identified as Mohammed Nizam (25), Syed Sameer (32), and Syed’s associate BG Sathish Kumar (44). The three were making the delivery to a financier, who was an accused in a currency conversion racket. The police have also taken the financer into custody.

Jagadish, also known as Jaguar Jaggi, had starred in a movie titled Sarkar: The Bullet, which released in March. The 31-year-old actor claims that he is innocent and that he was merely delivering a package for a friend and was not aware of the contents of the package.

Reportedly, a police team Mohammed’s house after learning that he was into illegal arms trade. He confessed to selling the weapon to the actor, said the police.

The police have booked the four under the Arms Act and the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
