Kasaragod: Fire service personnel rescued a man who had climbed a mobile tower in the premises of DC office and threatened to commit suicide. The man has been identified as P K Mohandas (54) from Karadka, Nelliyadka.
Apparently, the man felt dejected as his land problems were not sorted out even though he complained about them and hence had climbed mobile tower in the premises of DC office here in protest and refused to get down from there for about two hours.
Mr Mohandas attempted to commit suicide from the tower by tying a rope around his neck. Some people saw his actions and immediately complained to Vidyanagar police station. The man said that he would commit suicide if his problem was not solved within 24 hrs.
Apparently, Mohandas had submitted a complaint in regard to his land problem, to state secretariat at the village office and also to the DGP of Badiyadka police station.
Initially, even though the deputy commissioner in Thiruvananthapuram tried to speak to Mohandas on his mobile, he refused to come down. Eventually, the fire personnel was able to bring Mohan down to the ground and all those who witness the incident left a sigh of relief.
