Fire engulfs medical shop at Central market, goods worth Rs 15 lakh destroyed

Mangaluru: A medical shop was totally gutted, while few other shops were partially affected in a fire that erupted at Central Market here on Tuesday, October 23 night. The loss due to the fire is estimated at Rs 15 lacs.
The blaze broke out at around 11 pm at Sesma Medical shop and later it spread to nearby shops. While the medical shop was damaged extensively in the fire, a nearby shop Hanuman Electricals was also partially affected.
As many as three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the spread of the fire. Though the exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained officials believe that it may have been triggered by a short circuit.
Police have started investigating the matter.
