Rameshwaram: A rubber bullet fired during training by the Coast Guard is suspected to have been shot off target and hit a fisherman, injuring him, police said.
Anthony Pitchai was fishing at nearby “Devil’s island” with three others in a boat when the incident occurred, police said.
It was suspected that the bullet might have gone off target due to heavy winds, police said.
The fisherman was brought ashore by the other three and admitted to the Ramanathapuram government hospital, police said, adding his condition was not serious.
