Fishermen stranded in two boats rescued by Coast Guard

Mangaluru: 11 fishermen were rescued by the coast guard after the fishermen’s boat Emmanuel Kunhappa encountered engine failure at 46 nautical miles from Karwar on Wednesday March 20.
DHO authorities were informed about the drifting boat by the Kannur District Disaster Management Authority. In response to the distress call, Coast Guard regional headquarters (RHQ) and DHQ-3 immediately mobilized their vessels for the rescue of the 11 crew on-board.
Meanwhile, the coast guard also rescued four other fishermen after they were informed of another boat Japamala Matha was sinking due to technical snag at 75 nautical miles off New Mangalore Port.
Thus altogether 15 fishermen were rescued from distress.
