Fishing activity resumes after 2-month-long hiatus in Dakshina Kannada & Udupi

Mangaluru: Fishing activity along the coastal region in Karnataka resumed on Monday, August 1, after the end of the 2-month-long Monsoon break.
Boat workers, most of them from other states, have returned after the long break.
Boats eager to begin the season formed a long queue near the port. A long line of fishing boats was seen venturing into the sea in hopes of a good catch on Monday.
Reports said that fishermen from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts have resumed operations. Hotels and shops at Malpe port saw busy crowds as the mechanized fishing began. Business activities in the city market witnessed increased footfall.
