Five from Hyderabad Drowned in Hemagudda Lake of Gangavati

Koppal: Five from Hyderabad drowned in Hemagudda Lake at Gangavati taluk in Koppal district on Monday. The incident occurred after a group of tourists from Hyderabad visited Durgaparameshwari temple here and later moved into the lake for swimming.

Five of a same family lost their lives when father of four children, Raghavendra tried to rescue his kids from drowning when they were engaged in swimming. The deceased have been identified as Ragahvendra (35), his children, Ashish (14), Pournika, Pavani (12) and Pavithra (14).

The dead bodies have been retrieved from the lake soon after the incident with the support of local swimmers. Raghavendra was arrived for a Durgaparameshwari temple visit along with his four children and close relatives unfortunately he and his children lost their lives in water, the eye witnesses said. A police case stands registered at Gangavati police station on the incident.
