Five killed in NH accident

Belagavi: Five killed and eight severely injured in an accident on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway near Seebara village of Chitradurga on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Shivalinga Kukkanuru (20), Rakesh Bahubali Jain (19), Siddartha Munnihal, Shivalinga and Vinodh. All are residents of Muniyal village of Gokak. According to the police, 13 members had travelled from Kanahatti in an MUV on Saturday towards Madikeri and were on their way back to Belagavi. Early morning yesterday, the driver Shivalinga Kukkanuru lost control of the MUV and crashed into a truck resulting in death of five on spot. The injured are admitted in the hospitals of Chitradurga and Davangere. Superintendent of Police Srinath M Joshi and senior officials monitored the spot.

Chitradurga rural police have filed a complaint.
