Five members of a family killed in car mishap

Belagavi: Five persons from the same family died on the spot on late Monday, January 14 night after the car in which they were travelling fell in Ghataprabha left bank canal near Shivapur village in Savadatti taluk.

The deceased Paravva Pujeri (45), Lagmanna Pujeri (38), Laxmi Pujeri (35) bodies were sent them to Government Hospital at Yargatti for postmortem. Two bodies of Fakiravva Pujeri (29) and Hanumant Pujeri (60) were yet to be found. The driver identified as Adiveppa Malagi swam to safety.

It is gathered that the incident took place while the family was returning to their village in Savadatti after attending a funeral of a relative. They were crossing Shivapur when the driver lost control of the vehicle and the car fell in the roadside canal. 

A case with this regard has been registered with Murgod police.
