Five names proposed for Dakshina Kannada Congress President

Mangaluru: As part of its plans to appoint a new Dakshina Kannada District Congress President, the Congress High Command has been sent a list of five candidates.

Sources said a core committee meeting held at the district Congress office on Tuesday discussed potential candidates. While the state Congress had initially directed the district committee to propose three names, two additional candidates were included in the final list.

According to sources, the names finalized are MLC Ivan D’Souza, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, and Prithviraj Rai. Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai and KPCC General Secretary R. Padmaraj Poojary have also been included in the list.

The decision now rests with the Congress High Command, which is expected to announce the final selection soon.
