Mangaluru: Days after Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel spoke in favor of the Yettinahole project, flexes bearing his picture was allegedly blackened by environmentalists here.
Flexes had been erected near Kadri Park to greet leaders and branches of trees had been trimmed for blocking its view. Irked over trimming of the tree branches, National Environment Conservation Federation activists are said to have torn few of the erected flexes apart from smearing black ink on Kateel’s photo.
The incident took place on Monday, March 16 night.
Expressing anger at Kateel’s U-turn on the Yettinahole project, NECF convener Shashidhaar Shetty stated that the MP, who sought votes while opposing the project earlier is now speaking in its favor. “We don’t need such representatives nor we need their flexes,” he said.
Further he added that the activists will tear down any flexes that are erected illegally and by the felling of trees.
