Belagavi: Former minister Vinay Kulkarni, jailed for the murder of zilla panchayat Yogeesh Gowda, was released from Hindalaga jail here on Saturday.
Kulkarni was greeted with garlands from a large number of his supporters outside the jail.
Belagavi Rural MLA Laxmi Hebbalkar was also waiting outside the jail for an hour and tied Vinay a rakhi as he came out.
Kulkarni’s supporters later lifted him on his shoulders and carried him.
