A modest concrete building in the Kansas countryside has been put up for sale for $3,80,000. (Rs 2.8 crore).
People have been perplexed by the selling advertisement because the underground structure was once a US military bunker. During the 1960s, it was said to have harboured a couple of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Despite the fact that the structure was built to survive missile strikes, netizens are perplexed as to why a home with such a grim past and almost no comfort or luxury should be marketed for such a high price.
According to accounts, the bunker, which is 6,900 square feet in size and sits on 11 acres of land, begins with a series of steps leading down into the decommissioned missile silo complex.
Kansas was home to 12 of the 72 launch sites for Atlas F series missiles in the United States.
Electricity, running water, and a forced sewage system to the ground surface are all available in the bunker. In other words, it has all of the necessities for a modern family to survive. It is, however, devoid of any modern luxuries or comforts.
According to the description on Zillow, the bunker has two levels with a total length of 1,200 feet and an above-ground entrance.
The area was used for ‘the Launch control centre and living quarters for the crew,’ according to the sale website.
“This facility has lots of potential in whatever way you choose to go. A home, apartments or a Bed and Breakfast are just some ideas. If you want something offering security and uniqueness, then this property is for you,” reads the ‘overview’ section of the listed property.
