Foreign currency worth Rs 3.54 lakh seized at MIA

Bajpe: CISF personnel on duty at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) have foiled an attempt by a person to smuggle a bundle on foreign currency hidden in the inner pocket of his trouser on August 29th.  The accused is identified as Ulwar Khaderaha and was caught when the personnel were conducting frisking process at the international security hold area at MIA.

Apparently, the accused was scheduled to travel to Dubai by Air India flight IX 813 and was smuggling 18500 Saudi Riyal, 260 UAE Dirham, 100 Bahrain Dinar and Rs 2200 in Indian currency concealed in his trousers.

The accused has been handed over to customs officials for further investigation and the total value of the seized cash is approximately Rs 3.54 lakh.
