Foreign origin lady passenger harassed; 3 taken into custody

Kasaragod: Three youth have been taken into custody by the police for allegedly trying to harass a fellow lady passenger who is a foreign national. The arrested accused have been identified as Arshad (20) from Kiliyattara Odiyukund in Iritty, Kannur, Muhammed Kaif (22) from Kottappara, Mullapalli, and V K Vishnu (21) also from Kottappara.

The woman from Brazil had boarded the Coimbatore Intercity Express train at Mangaluru on her journey to Palakkad. She was accompanied by a youth from Kerala with whom she was acquainted. It is said that, till the train reached Ullal station, the three youngsters kept harassing the lady. The trio also threatened the boy accompanying the lady when he tried to confront them.

As the train reached Hosdurg railway station, the lady complained to the station master. The police immediately came into the compartment, took the youngsters into custody. The accused were later handed over to railway police there.
