Hyderabad/Bengaluru: Ahead floor test today in the Karnataka Assembly, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was on Friday chose as the Congress legislature party leader in Hyderabad.
“The party consistently passed a determination to choose Siddaramaiah as the Congress legislature party leader,” the party statement said.
The Congress council party meeting was held at a star hotel in Hyderabad where its recently chosen legislators stayed.
The Congress and the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) had moved their recently chosen legislators to Hyderabad on late Thursday to keep the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from poaching them for deserting.
The legislators will come back to Bengaluru before 11 a.m on Saturday, when the new assembly will be met to empower them to take oath.
A floor test will be held at 4 p.m on Saturday on Supreme Court’s mandate prior in the day to determine if BJP Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa demonstrates majority.
Of the 222 seats, the BJP won 104, Congress 78, JD-S 37, and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party (KPJP) one each, aside from an Independent.
