Mangaluru: Ahead of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) polls former MCC Mayor, Purandara Das resigned from the primary membership of Congress party on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, November 5 Das submitted his resignation to Congress Dakshina Kannada President Harish Kumar citing that his services to the party were insulted with the last-minute call to not field him, allegedly on instructions of former Karnataka Minister Ramanath Rai.
It is gathered that Purandara Das resignation came after he was named as the candidate from ward no. 17 (Derebail) from Congress and was asked to file B form only to be replaced by another candidate at the last moment.
